“Issue 1: Definitely a grabber for the first issue. My favourite part was when the invading superheroes were introduced. Gave me chills. Wonder where this will go. Dialogue is cleverly and interestingly written. I only got the reference to Justice League vs. Pulp fiction heroes after my brother explained it to me.
Issue 2: I get the mild reference to Japanese monsters here, but I thought this comic was too short without enough explanation as to its purpose. I'm getting the impression that all Planetary does is investigate weird stuff. I hope it becomes more complicated than this.
Issue 3: The tiny story in here is pretty interesting and scary (though I don't think I can figure out the reference on my own). Also, my brother has explained to me the purpose of this series, so I can see how the issues cohere together now.
Issue 4: Now we seem to be getting somewhere. Still don't know the reference here, but the idea of it is still incredibly cool. And I gotta side with Snow - when can we take part of something, DO something? It gets boring just sitting around and watching/recording the after effects!
Issue 5: Didn't start to get interesting until the last couple pages. I'm sad that the beginning of this issue didn't break off right from the end of the last one, but I'm glad the last few pages addressed Snow's curiosity of the fourth man.
Issue 6: Must be playing on 2001. Was rather bored with the story, again, until the last few pages. I must be even more impatient than Snow. I'm waiting for something to seriously happen.
Overall: The idea of Planetary is interesting, but only when I can actually see something happening. If something big doesn't happen soon, I'm definitely going to lose interest.”
“(From Wikipedia) Planetary are an organization billing themselves as "Archaeologists of the Impossible", tracking down the world's secret history. Funded by the mysterious Fourth Man, who it is said could be anyone from Bill Gates to Adolf Hitler, the field team consists of three superhumans: Jakita Wagner, who is strong, fast and nearly invulnerable; The Drummer, who can detect and manipulate nearby information streams, most commonly used to manipulate computers and other electronics; the new recruit Elijah Snow, who can extract heat from nearby substances at will, freezing them; and the former third man Ambrose Chase, who has a "selective physics-distortion field". Planetary's field team travels the world investigating strange phenomena: monsters and other beings, unusual relics, other superhumans, and powerful secrets which certain individuals are trying to keep hidden from the rest of the world. Their purpose in doing this is partly curiosity, and partly to use what they learn for the betterment of mankind. There are, however, groups who oppose their goals, and the organization has a substantial history which is gradually revealed during the series.”

Warren Ellis is a mad genius. ”
