Yes | No“I decided to read this book because I really like Charles Barkley on TV...and because I really want to be friends with Mike Wilbon. The book will really make you think about many different issues--sports-related and not--so I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. Whether or not I agreed with Barkley, I appreciated the chance to read one opinion and think more about my opinions on the topic. One major thing that I didn't like about the book, though, was that some of his arguments and logic we weak or broken. For example, he comments on how Joe DiMaggio refused to appear at functions unless he was introduced as "The Greatest Ballplayer that Ever Lived" (or something like that). And that was OK with everybody. He then goes on to say how that, if a black person today were to say something like that, he would be ridiculed and hated. I do not think you can really compare the two things...ANYONE saying something like that today would likely be ridiculed. Joe DiMaggio was in a different time and in a different society and in a different technological/media age. This is not to discount Barkley's points or opinions, but I thought he could better back them up. Just my two cents!”
