"Murder Under a Mystic Moon" is okay. I can't say I hated it, but it's a pretty ho-hum book. I made it to the end, but I wouldn't recommend it. Some of Galenorn's books have garnered some decent ratings, so I'm thinking this must not be one of her better efforts.

The third time's a charm in the Chintz 'n China series.

After medium Emerald O'Brien literally stumbles across the body of her friend's best buddy, the police blame the death on a cougar attack. But Emerald senses something else wandering the forest--a killer of a more human kind.

After the kidnapping of her son in the previous book, Emerald had become friends with Jimbo, the bad biker boy. He lives somewhere in the woods, near a biker enclave. The police thinks them all criminals, and so they don’t move a muscle when Jimbo’s best friend goes missing. So Jimbo asks Emerald for help finding him. He truly didn’t just ride off, he was going to be a father soon, and looking forward to that job. He was in love with his girlfriend, and would never leave her behind without a word, or without his new 30.000 dollar bike!
But there is something scary in the woods at Klickavail Mountain, even the bikers won’t go there. And when Emerald cast her senses out, she feels something ancient, older than the mountains themselves! And a bad vibe, but is it human, or the Klakatat Monster?

A lot of things happened in this book. The search for the murderer of Jimbo’s best friend, who happened to be a convenience store robber a decade ago! But the lives of Emeralds best friends are also continuing nicely. Her ex-husband is going to be a father again, and how can she explain to her children, he will never be a better father to this new child than he was to them? Roy can only care for himself afterall. Her ex-boyfriend is back in town, after being kickedout by his starlett girlfriend, and he wants another chance, but Emerald is happily in love with Joe now, so he won’t get a chance.
And of course the paranormal part. That was really awesome! The legend of the monster, that has made appearances way before white people invaded the mountains looking for gold and stuff, a legend the native americans won’t talk about. But is it a monster, or is it something else? And when Emerald finds out the truth, it was breathtaking!
Of course it had is suspense moments, deep inside the mountain with a murderer, and its lovely family moments too.

So this book, I give 4,5 stars.
