Ayn Rand said that she never wrote an autobiography, but this was as close as it came for her. I liked this as much (but for different reasons) as I loved The Fountainhead. She did a great job of illustrating her philosophies through narrative text.

this book portrays the life during Russian revolution. i literally struggled to finish off this book but when i reached to the end the story left deep impact on my mind. it is an amazing story but th end is really depressing. once read this book and the vivid description of characters and situation will actually take you to that era and make you experience the trials and tribulations people underwent.

A romance set in the backdrop of Socialist Russia n its struggles and frustrations - one of Rand's first i believe and as usual with very strong and admirable characters written with her usual vigour-
