“ In Many Waters, by Madeleine L'Engle, there is always the constant struggle of knowing who you are. The two main characters are twin teenage boys, Dennys and Sandy. Their parents are scientists that have been exploring how space and time travel work, and are in the mix of an experiment. One day, when their parents are not home, the twins tamper with the experiment (by accident) and get sent back in time on the Earth. They end up in the time of Noah's Ark, though at first have know idea where they are and how they are going to get home. Everyone there is so different, and follow a different culture. Though the people are nice, and take care of the boys.
One of the things that I noticed, was that people back then were very in tune with their inner-self, the earth and the starts above them. They would look to the starts for guidance, and the starts would speak to them, always helping in the best way they knew how. Through out the story, Dennys and Sandy become part of Noah's family, with his wife Matren and their youngest daughter Yalith.
They each grow as characters, and encounter animals that some of us, today, do not believe in (such as the unicorn). Even though must of us would think that if we were back in time it would be bad to meddle, but the changes that the twins made were all for the better.
At the end, once they finally manage to get home, they say they will always feel a little home sick. I think that this would be true with anyone.
I would recommend this to anyone, for even though it is dry, it has significant meaning.”
“The fifteen-year-old Murry twins, Sandy and Dennys, are accidentally sent back to a strange Biblical time period when they interrupt their father's experiment. In this strange land mythical beasts roam the desert and a man named Noah is building a boat in preparation for a great flood.”

“The first book I've read in the Time Quartet series and I have to say I loved it. As a stand alone book, it's definitely a good read. It's creative and interesting and the various situations in the plot are unexpected, which kept me interested. Another thing was that how overtly religious it was. But I enjoyed that religious quality of the book since it provided an interesting perspective on the book of Genesis (forgot which chapter) which talks about the sons of God mating with the daughters of men, and the Nephilim living among them. L'Engle was able turn this whole plot into some rich fantasy with a great deal of symbolic value especially on matters of love and faith.
I have to read the rest of the books in the series then.”
“This is clearly one of my favorites! I read this and I loved it!!.

“I think this was the last of this series to be released, though it takes place before Book 3.”

After delving more into the Bible, it is obvious that this is based more in Science Fiction than real historical Biblical things. But it makes you think more deeply about what life must have been like during the time of Noah.”
