This is a book on a teacher named "Mr. Braithwaite". Inspite of being born and brought up in an English society, because of his skin colour, he had to suffer and pass through tough times. He had suffered all the prjudices of the society and even faced hardships because of his jobless condition. He was living with the family (containing older couple) with whom he did not share blood relation but were more precious to him than any of his blood relation. Finally he got the job in a Greenslade school having a huge variety of children but the common characteristics shared by them were slumming, delinquency, roughness, untidiness... He managed to win hearts of all children and his colleagues. His constant dedication towards his work made children turn into descent, humble, respectable and loving human beings from the dreadful animals. Finally he was in love with a white woman which was the shock to him as before meeting her, he didnt even think of falling in love with a person of different race.
Inspite of all teachings given by him to his students, at end, students again start the racial discrimination but within a day, the children realized and made Mr. Braithwaite feel the most happy man on earth. Then on last 2nd day, they had a huge christmas party where they all enjoyed and was no difference between a student and teacher.
On the last day of term, the students of Braithwaite's class expressed hearty thanks to him for the change he brought in them and received a gift from them labelled "TO SIR, WITH LOVE" and below it signatures of all students...

This book is very inspiring for all the teachers and also the people who still are in grip of racial discrimination.
