I liked the book. It was the first time I have read one of his novels and would like to read the others which deal with Harrow house. I was commpletely thrown off by the fact his real mother was Matilde! I felt sorry for the young boy, Alf and his mother, Maggie. I also liked the time setting, for some reason, the era Douglas Clegg put this in seemed to fit the story quite well. I started to read "Purity" but had to give the book back since I wasn't even the one who the book was meant for!
