This is a fantastic picture book from the master of the wilderness/dog tales. The words are more accurately told as fantastic prose describing both the movement of the dog sled as well as the surrounding natural world. Are both worth celebrating? Certainly, and I daresay the Paulsens agree with...

This book tries so very hard to be lyrical and poetic. And it is. I guess. But when reading aloud it leads to a lot of verbal stumbling and back-tracking to make sure what you read was correct.

The illustrations are good though.

What a great story for finding new vocabulary! The dogteam in this book travels by night in the Alaskan wilderness. Mush!

An illustrated prose poem about dog sledding. Not quiet Robert Frost, but a nice read all the same. And once again, the illustrations by Ruth Wright Paulsen are beautiful!
