Jemmy was a pauper living on the streets until the Prince made him the whipping boy. Every time Prince "Brat" got in trouble, Jemmy would have to take the punishment for Prince "Brat". Jemmy wouldn't open his mouth or scream or cry when he got whipped. One night, Prince "Brat" decides to run away. He forces Jemmy to come along with him. While running away, they encounter Hold Your Nose Billy and Cutwater. The men take them hostage and take them away. When the boys escape from Hold Your Nose Billy and Cutwater, they find a girl named Betsy looking for her bear named Petunia. Later, the boys see a cart owned by Captain Nips, the "Potato Man". While sitting with Captain Nips, Betsy and Petunia, the hear rumors about the Prince and learn that Jemmy is wanted by the King. Jemmy goes to the sewer where they run into Hold Your Nose Billy and Cutwater. They go down the wrong pipe and come out covered in rats. Jemmy and the Prince come out of the sewer and go to the castle where Jemmy and the Prince are friends. Hold Your Nose Billy and Cutwater jump on a ship. It's a convict ship headed for a convict island.
