This book was once described to me as the libertarian handbook at an age where I knew little of politics in general and libertarians specifically. Upon future rereads I see what this person meant. This book manages to make me completely disagree with the founding principles of the good guys, mostly, and yet let my political opponents, as they were, be real human beings with reasons I could not only follow, but understand.

It's pretty refreshing. I will say that not all the ideas that Heinlein tends to have are ones I find disagreeable, but the sum of all the parts doesn't usually make up a society I would like to live in. That said, this books is pretty damn awesome. Next up is the unofficial sequel in the unofficial series that I've never had time to sit down and puzzle out before now.

Okay I googled it, but the books are long! Kindle be praised, I can now wander around life with the five core books of the 'myth' universe and start putting together what that crazy old coot was aiming for.
