Interesting read I should say. The book holds great information and depiction of what a fairy tale should consist of. In Tree and Leaf Tolkien writes about the different styles and depictions of faerie stories while giving a great and well worded faerie tale of his own.

Leaf by Nigel(Tolkiens own fairy tale) has become one of my favourite short stories. Its the type of story I could read time and time again. Tree and Leaf does not follow any of Tolkiens world (Lord of the rings) however shows the mind and understanding that he had for literature. I recommend this book to anyone who would like a clearer understanding of what a fairy story is and should comprise of.

Another excellent addition to your fantasy catalog, Tree and Leaf includes "On Fairy Stories", Tolkien's philosophical look at fantasy writing, and one of his exquisite short stories, "Leaf by Niggle".

A discussion on the origins of the fairy story and how most "fairy stories" don't belong in that genre.
