“One of my favorite authors!”

I definitely have some problems with some of the "cliched renaissance cop who all of the girls are fighting to get with" idea of a storyline. It gets rather laughable after the third or fourth hot woman eyeing the man-god that is Stone Barrington, but it is a fast-paced and interesting story when we don't have to worry about Stone's love-life. I liked some of the twists to the story toward the end. (The killer didn't surprise me at all, I guessed who that was pretty early (and thought Stone was quite an idiot for not seeing it). I appreciate the effort by Woods to divert our attention to another person, and to keep the story going - but there were twists to other aspects to the story that I rather enjoyed - though they were admittedly creepy. I liked how the story was not just about the murder of Sasha, toward the last third of the book you don't even hear about her for quite some time as Woods takes us into the life of Stone and some of the challenges that lay before him. I can't say as I really like Stone, in my opinion he's kind of a tool, trying to act tough when he really isn't, and everyone claiming he is smart, which to me, he seemed rather dim at times - but I did request the next book in the series from the library today, so I will give him another shot. It wasn't one of the better books I've read, but I guess it was enjoyable enough for audio on my commute.”
