Not much I can add about Edgar Allan Poe. This particular edition is a perfect collection of Poe's works. The only drawback, is it is too large and heavy to take with you underways. It's for reading in bed on a stormy night. Beside the famous stories that most people know of, there are countless monographs and articles that do not fail to astonish in their insight and brilliance, even today. It's a special delight to discover the Dupin stories, who later became the protoype for Sherlock Holmes. Poe is very modern, even in the 21st century.

Edgar Allan Poe, in my opinion, is one of the few people who can make red not just red, but crimson red. Example: He takes revenge and instead of "serving it on a cold dish", he brings the hatred, reason, and bitterness of true revenge out and shows to the reader its vileness and ruthlessness.

    AMAZING

I love Edgar Allan Poe! He's so unique in his intriguing writing style. Very cool, and really an awesome writer (some stuff is odd, but that makes it all the better!)

I am primarily a short story writer. Poe is one of the first short story writers. I'm sure he isn't really the first, but he definitely made a style of it.

I don't own this particular book but i have always appreciated Poe's work. He also appealed to my then 13 year old son's sense of the fantastic and quirky...wonderful use of words.I remember one day i read out lout to my son the "The Bells" while he weeded my rose garden!!! What a sweet memory!
