Wow, what a ride. This is the third installment of the Dark Tower series, and it kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire time. In this book, we meet again "The Boy" from The Gunslinger, Jake Chambers, as he enters the story anew. The band of travelers go further on their quest to find the Dark Tower, facing huge half robot bears, ghastly half alive residents of the city of Lud (which looks a lot like New York), and a monorail whose 'mind' has more than a little bit derailed. A fast paced and thoroughly engaging story from start to finish, with a cliffhanger ending that will compel you to read the next installment in the series!

One of my favorite books, along with volumes 1 and 2.
