The Dark Tower series is one long great yarn, one that sucks you in from the first page and makes you read until you suddenly realize the sun's gone down (or come back up again) and you have no idea how long you've been at it. This installment is full of King-ism for better or for worse: a cybernetic bear kaiju, an evil intelligent train, people-as-monsters, a kid far wiser than his years. There's some mind-bending-time-travel-paradox in there for good measure, too. What I really love about...

OK. Don't see what all the hoopla is about. I've read better, by King as well as others. The story was getting long and very drawn-out by the time I got to this book.

I read all 3 series. I would keep the books on the nightstand and read before going to sleep. I actually felt as if I was aside of the Gunslinger watching the story unfold. Was sort of far out, but that's Kings mind. Loved it.
