“Having watched the cosy, romanticized TV series I did not really think it would be worth reading the book but it certainly was. Whereas the BBC focuses on relationships and happy endings the book goes much more into the nitty gritty detaily of midwifery and life in the East End of London. Enlightening, education and at times shocking!”
