I loved this book becuase it was really good. Even though the beggining was slow it was still a really good book. It was good because there was great detail and really good descriptions of what was happening. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes western stories or violent stories

"The Gunslinger" bye Stephen King is the first book in the "Dark Tower" series. It takes place in an alternate world, very much like our own, and follows a character named Roland, who is in search of the mythical Dark Tower. During his journey, he comes across a boy named Jake, who has been thrust out of the world as we know it today, and into the one of Roland. In my opinion, this wasn't one of King's best. I mean, it wasn't totally boring, but it really could have had a lot more action. There were many parts of the book where it was just kind of a chore to read. So yeah, all in all, not very good, but not painfully bad in between. Just a not-so-happy medium.

The first, bleak entry in Stephen King's epic seven-book "Dark Tower" series. And as far as first entries go, this one couldn't be much better. Picture, if you can, a tall, emaciated man, looking like a fugitive from hell itself, crossing the desert, hat on his head, faded bluejeans on, a pair of ancient revolvers at his hips, pursuing a mysterious man in black across a diseased, apocalyptic world in which the very laws of nature can be (and have been) bent and broken by sorcery and science. Then picture what happens when the gunslinger catches up with the man in black, and the two of them parley in the place of the skulls. You can't.

I haven't finished reading it yet but so far i am enjoying the alternate universe and fantasy idea. I plan to finish reading the dark tower series.

It is pretty good however, you have to have the time to read it, it isn't a book you can put down and then come back to later.

'The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.' And with that the first steps on an epic journey across seven novels and several thousand pages begins.
