These were my first Steven King books that I'd read. He does a good job of portraying a scene, but seems to have trouble linking them together. I wasn't happy with the ending. It left me thinking "Why did I bother reading all this?"

I think The Dark Tower books are not indicative of Kings style. These are not horror novels, they're more fantasy/sci fi type novels.
If you've never read King I would actually start the same way he did. Read them in the order he wrote them. It's interesting to see his styles and imagination change.

I'd like to get into some of King's novels, but I'm not sure which one to start with. What do you guys think of the Gunslinger? Can someone give me a brief summary?
