I've read this over and over. Excellent overview of horror fiction, horror films, and schlockola in the USA, from that delightful Stephen King POV. The recommended reading and viewing lists in the back are more than worth the price of admission, but there is so much more in here.

Mostly commentary. Very dull. Soliloquy does not do him well.

Found this more engaging than his fiction, but quite patchy as I usually find his work.

I loved getting a basic introduction about horror from the master himself. I was too young to have followed a lot of horror from the beginning. This book brought me up to speed.

SK writing about writing. Interesting, but not enough to sustain interest for 400 pages, interestingly enough. Interested?

This is a wonderful book and a must read for anybody interested in horror as a genre. Too bad it ends at 1980. King should really write a sequel or an update. I'd love to read what he makes of current horror right now in a detailed analysis.

Reading Danse Macabre was like having a one on one conversation with Stephen King, a must read for those who are into Horror and what goes behind Stephen King (as close as to those he revealed.).
