“Stephen King rates 5 *'s, regardless of how I feel about the book However: for me the Gunslinger series rates 6 stars ”

The gunslinger, Roland, must find his three companions, and to do so he encounters "doors" that lead into other worlds. The main problem is bringing his companions back — they either don't want to or cannot join his quest, for various reasons.
The part of the story that sticks with me is the giant lobster monstrosities that wander across its pages from beginning to end. Them and their lawyerly questions! Lobsters are pretty frightening looking, and the thought of a giant one is even moreso! ”
“Amazing series...great characters.”

But if you want to read the series who wouldnt want to miss out on some great action that does happen. There is also some good backround information on the characters is created this is an adventure novel.”

This was an excellent book and a great series. As a Stephen King fan I gained even more respect for his writing and imagination as I realized how many of his books I have read with nearly seamless ties to this series. ”

I still have yet to read The Gunslinger. Therefore, from my perspective, this book was superb. I didn't even feel the need to read the first one but rather kept going through the series. I am seriously jealous of both Stephen King's ability to write a character and the amount he can write in such a short span. And what other book so awesomely combines science fiction, western, and the fantasy genres with compelling EVERYTHING.”
