I always thought of Roadwork as the weakest of the Bachman books, but still worthwhile enough reading.

    This is one of the five books signed as a differente writer novel (Richard Bachman, I believe was the name) and each and every one of those are simple spectacular!!! Was very difficult for me stop reading all those books, they have suspence, horror, action, they have all that a writer wants!!!

    His home, his workplace, his entire past is about to be torn down, all for a new highway extension. Bart Dawes can't deal with that. He was born in that house, his son died in that house, his life stays with his house. Can he stop the highway crews, probably not. But he will definitely take some with him. The third book written under the name of Richard Bachman, tension builds as the 784 extension grows closer to it's unstoppable end. A masterpiece of suspense and the deadly truth that when you fight someone, they'll fight back.

    A good story about a man pushed to far. Stephen King wrote this one under the pen name Richard Bachman.

    Werk in uitvoering

    Auteur(s): King, Stephen
    Oorspr. titel: Roadwork
    Vertaling: Hugo en Nienke Kuipers
    pocket, 320 pag.
    ISBN: 9789024551897
    ISBN: 9024551897

    En dat is nu precies wat Bart George Dawes niet van plan is om te accepteren....

    Stephen King beschrijft in Werk in uitvoering met mededogen een man die zijn leven hard heeft gewerkt om een bestaan op te bouwen. Een bestaan dat hij met één handtekening van de overheid vernietigd ziet worden.

    I always thought of Roadwork as the weakest of the Bachman books, but still worthwhile enough reading.

    Barton Dawes is a man with problems. He’s lost his son to cancer and is on the brink of losing his marriage as well. And, somehow the extension of a highway that is scheduled to go straight through his home has begun to work on his mind.

    The most interesting aspect of Roadwork is that Dawes, like many people, copes with the problems in his life without fully realizing the reasons for his actions. Yet, because this was written by Stephen King, his coping mechanisms go beyond binging on chocolate. ^_^;

    I read this book about 7 years ago and don't remember much about it, but in my book journal I rated it a 3 out of five, so it must have been pretty good.
