I'm a Maurenn Dowd fan and, even though I don't always agree with her, I often wish she were more politically partisan because her barbs always viscerate her intended targets. I had expected Dowd's characteristic, sardonic wit. What I did not expect (guess I hadn't read any reviews), was...

Very funny exploration of what women do to make themselves presntable for men, and asks whether any of it is really a good idea, including the men themselves.

Brief answer: yes, but only for a couple hundred more years. The Y chromosome is doomed. By 2200, the fairer, kinder, and wilier sex will have figured out how to replicate without having to join e-harmony.

Ms. Dowd has written an entertaining book that is both funny and thought-provoking. But it appears to be a collections of columns rather than a cohesive thesis. Well OK, she is a columnist.

A very interesting piece of non-fiction. Insightful, witty, and at time scathing but always entertaining.

Amusing and sassy. Take it for what it is and you'll appreciate the book. Although, it does have it's outrageous moments-mostly it's highly entertaining. A must read for all forward thinking women.

Since geneticists can now split the chromosomes of eggs of two females and use them to "fertilize" each other, the answer is no.

Then females should start studying genetics, physics, chemistry, computer science etc so that they will never need males.

Until then, we do all the dirty work!
