Each of the poems in this cycle is a take-off on one of Grimm's fairy tales, both the more well known (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc) and the obscure. Each retells the story and interweaves glimpses of modern life, bringing up the lesbian eroticism of Rapunzel, the suburban deceptiveness of Little Red Riding Hood, and the lottery-ticket luckiness of Cinderella. The crowning achievement, IMHO, is The Twelve Dancing Princesses, which begins "If you danced from midnight to 6am, who would...
