I remember thinking this book was pretty good when i read it, but the amount of it that I have retained, and how often I think about it in other contexts and conversations, has made me think it was amazing, looking back. I might read it again this year.

An interesting feminist science fiction story about a basically genderless utopia...I found most of the story depressing, and hard to appreciate fully.

This is a truly memorable story. It is well worth a 2nd & 3rd read.

This is a great story, part historically-accurate depiction of the life of a Chicana single mom in the early Seventies, part zany sci-fi story. Terrific use of an unreliable narrator. Her matter-of-fact description of her travels between current-day New York City and a Utopian, sexually-egalitarian, non-racist future could be factual or just the ravings of a mentally ill person. Both seem equally possible. The end does not really tell you which interpretation is real.

I read this years ago and remember loving it. Feminist viewpoint and two possible realities.

It was recommended to me by a good friend being on of her favorites, but quite frankly - I could not read it, I stopped reading it at some point. For me, it was written a bit to brutal, cannot stand violence described in an open way... However, my 1 star does not mean this is not a good book.
