It's hard to end a great story, especially a great mystery. The first 3/4 of this book are so good that my expectations were high. Unfortunately, the last 1/4 didn't meet those expectations. The mystery turns into a very good episode of Law & Order, the relationships turn predictable, and the implication that the narrator can't be trusted to tell the truth doesn't reveal anything - so, he's lying, but that doesn't change enough to make it really significant. Still, a great read despite a weak ending (how many millions of times have I said that!?).

LilWel - I completely agree. I was so high on this book through the first half. And then, parts of it felt like French gave up...WARNING SPOILERS - the sex scene that destroys Cassie & Ryan's partnership & their careers kinda ruined it. Their sibling understanding of each other was so much more interesting as they wrestled with the complexities of the case.
