“A wealthy man who seeks revenge, or forgiveness after death, hatred and love mixed together, politics and idealism. That’s David Chacko’s last novel, Martyr’s Creek, a tale about revenge, and old friendships that turned into hatred.
After having experimented foreign settings for his stories, Chacko comes back to his USA, making good use of his knowledge on the country, expressing his views (and the opposite) on many current affairs.
Panda, the protagonist of the story, is forced to accomplish his worst enemy’s last wills, getting involved in a spooky story about an undying man and his cursed family. He will be forced to neter his enemy’s life, making the utmost effort to understand and redeem it.
All the details are useful to the plot and give a perfect background of the protagonist’s - and of all the other characters’ - personality.
As a perfect thriller, the author seems to have lived in first person what happens to his protagonist, following clearly, step by step, all the leads that drive to the final conclusion. Neat style and interesting details makes the book easy to read and fascinating.
