Beyond Basketball was a great book written by Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K). It is certainly not an everyday book. The book contains Coach K’s 40 keywords for success. I really enjoyed the book because of the lessons taught by Coach K. One of his main lessons in the book was “the fist.” He says to his team even today that if you play together as a group of 5 people all competing for the same goal like a fist then you are much stronger than five individuals who are like five fingers. They are much weaker and easier to break compared to 5 people who play together and for each other. Another lesson Coach K talks about is the four most important words in life. He says the four most important words a person can hear in their life is I BELIVE IN YOU. If a person goes through life without hearing those words they will most likely not be successful and go through life without knowing the true meaning of happiness. The book shows you ways in which to deal with losing and cope with winning. If you always try your hardest and give whatever you’re doing, whether it is school, work or sports, your all then you will always be a winner and you will be very successful in life. After reading this book I felt like I understood how to deal with life better and how to deal with the struggles and the success that comes in life. It is not your normal book but if you read it you will feel much different afterword. I don’t know how to explain it but you just feel like you can be successful. There are other books written by Coach K such as “Leading with the Heart” which I have read but I think this one is the best. It is definitely worth reading.

Beyond Basketball Mike Krzyzewski 171 pages
If I could talk to the author about this book I would comment on how I was such an inspiring book. It challenged you to try your best in every aspect of your life. It was also a book that taught me many things, like how you need courage to go out of your comfort zone or you would stay home all day every day.
The author did a lot to keep me interested in the book. He told stories about his life in college, his family life, and his coaching life. One story that I really liked was when his daughter brought the family together for a family meeting and presented two topics one about a dog and the other about a family vacation. She took polls earlier and showed that their family happiness was at 60% and if they did either their family happiness would jump to 80%.
The character I most enjoyed was J.J. Redick. He tells a story about him during the 2005-06 season the media put a lot of pressure on J.J. to score a lot and to carry the team. He said J.J. would not have been able to do it if the team didn’t back him. During one of the games that season Duke was playing Georgetown, Duke was down by three with a couple seconds on the clock. The freshman point guard dribbled into a bad situation. J.J. walked of the court with his arm around him and told him “we win as a team and we lose as a team”.
The person telling this story is Mike Krzyzewski. He was in every story, all the stories had were stories from his life. He tells about his family, his basketball team, friends, and his co-workers. He affected the way I read it by making me think how he felt in his perspective.

Beyond Basketball is a non-fiction book, and also my favorite books to read. It’s about Coach Mike Krzyzewski, also known as Coach K. I felt like this book gives you advice succeeding in life. Every chapter is about words, and like how he uses those words to motivate the players on his team to do well. He the one of the top 5 coaches in NCAA basketball history, if not the best coach. This book also talks about the relationship between him and his players, like when Jason Williams got into a motorcycle accident which could’ve have ended his carrier, and Coach K went to see him all the way in Indiana, and it also talks about him and Shane Battier, Johnny Dawkins, his wife Molly, and few more people. I would recommend the book to everyone, especially duke fans. This book gives you advices that you can use. Even if you are North Carolina fan, or if you don’t even follow or like college basketball you should read this book, because it’s an increasable book to read, and you won’t regret reading it.

"Beyond Basketball Coach K's Keywords For Success" is a great book about the game of basketball. Its told by legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski the coach of the Duke Bluedevils and the coach of team USA. Coach K talks about the key words needed to be a better basketball player but most importantly a better person. Some of the key words he talks about are, courage, passion, trust, excellence, respect and many more more words that have importance. This book takes you in the life of Coach K as he shares stories about his prior teams and prior experiences. It also teaches you to be a leader and alwaysto have that confiendence everyone needs.
I think this was a great book. I love the game of basketball and I enjoyed every minute of this book. Im not a big reader but i just couldnt put this book down. I loved hearing his stories about former players and coaches and how basketball changed his life for the better. If any one would like to be a coach someday this is the book to read. It gives great insite in being the best coach and best motivater. No one is perfect but there are many ways as told in this book to be better in life, not just the game of basketball.

This was a pretty good book written by Mike Kryzewski who's been the coach of the Duke Blue Devils basketball team for a very long time. He tells his perspective on what basketball is really about and how a player that wants to be successful should treat his teammates, coach and lifestyle. I agree with Mike on everything that he says in this book, but saying and doing are totally different things. I wish I could be this dedicated to basketball and teammates but that is a lot of pressure and work and it is to structured for me. I don't really like to have structure, I like to do my own thing in life and I don't think that doing the sam thing all the time is that possible.
