I really liked this book. I really liked Marie Antoinette, too. Most of what I 'knew' about her was apparently incorrect, and this book sets the record straight. The author did plenty of research, and her take on Marie Antoinette's life makes a lot of sense.

I also liked this book because it helped me see the connection between the events of the American revolution and those of the French. I understand the French revolution and Bastille Day better now.

Well, if you were hoping this book would live up to the expectations set by Ahab's Wife, just put it down. If, however you were dying to know every single thought that ever went on in Marie Antoinette's head, and every detail of her days, this is the book for you. Not for me though, Sometimes When I was a teenager I used to think my life was boring, nice to know it can be excruciatingly boring if you're Marie Antoinette too.

This book is excellent! I thought it might be a bit of a bore, but the writing is really great. I am loving the author's style of getting the information to me using 'Toinette's personality and words. The movie left me wanting so much more, and this book really fills in all the blanks! I will be reading more by this author. The last fifth is getting a bit tedious with all the political jargon. I am still really enjoying floating along, feeling like I am in 'Toinette's head - which, considering the ending, is probably not that great of an idea.
