“I like Susan Anderson's books, they make me laugh and while they aren't exactly great literature, they're fun to read. I only thought this one was so so though, which is why it took me 5 days to read it, I guess.
Lily Morrisette is a corporate chef on a yacht and while waiting for her next job on the ship, is staying with her friend Glynnis. What Glynnis neglects to mention is that her house is actually her brother's house and that when he isn't on assignment, Master Sergeant Zachariah Taylor, is overprotective and overbearing. Convinced, Lily's a con artist out to get his sister's money, Zach is less than enthused to see Lily in his kitchen. Even though he admires her looks, he's stubborn to a fault, and is also unhappy to hear that Glynnis is off to Washington state to meet her fiance's family. Determined to stop this marriage, Zach sets out on Glynnis' trail and with Lily equally determined for Zach to not screw this up, she goes along. When they get to the end of the trail, all they find are hysterical relatives and a ransom note.
Really, I thought that this book could have been wrapped up 100 pages short of it's actual 364 pages. I can't really put my finger on why I disliked this book, but I did. Yes, the plot was unbelievable, the hero was hot, the heroine was funny, and all the elements of a good "fluff" read were there but I must not have been in the mood. However, it's a book that I owned and is now off the shelf so that's a good feeling.
