I just read this at www.alibris.com about "The Long Good Night: My Father's Journey Into Alzheimer's" -
"An uplifting story of hope for caregivers everywhere. The Long Good-Night contradicts the prevailing opinion that suffering and chaos are all that is possible during seasons of caring for an aging parent, even one with Alzheimer's disease."

Having been there with Mama's dementia, I understand only too well. And yes, there are special moments you would have under no other circumstances than caring closely for your love one! Daphne Simpkins portrays this with the skill and style as only an experienced writer who has lived the situation could do.

Daphne Simpkins has essays and stories published in the Chicago Tribune, St. Petersburg Times, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and elsewhere, and teaches writing on one of Auburn University's campuses. This book is being added to my "required reading for caregivers."
