  “I read this book as a recommendation from a friends bookshelf.
  What I liked: I came away with some great information about the Clintons. It was interesting to learn about their background and some of the things that were accomplished while Bill was in office.
  I also really enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book. It wasn't too political and talked about younger children which I could relate to.
  Some things that I plan to remember from the book are:
  1. Eat dinner together as a family
  2. Vaccinate your kids
  3. Try to spend 45 minutes of undivided time with your children a day. It's a small investment for big returns.
  4. Big things are happening in a child's development ages 0-3
  5. Insist on basic safety equipment (helmets, etc)
  6. Adults need to do what they can to show their children they can fix things in their community.
  7. When trying to make a difference, it is best to start with your family and then expand from their.
  8. Religion pays an important roll in raising children.
  
  What I didn't like: It was written in 1996 which made it dated, especially in the later chapters. The later chapters also got a little more political oriented and dragged. I did not pick up this book for politics. Lastly, I liked alot of what this book had to say but I always question the truthfulness of something Hillary Clinton says.
  
  Overall, I would recommend reading the first 2/3 of this book to anyone who associates with children.”

  “when this book first came out, i thought it would change the way we thought. how naive of me. economically speaking in america we are simply unable to live this way. our families are scattered about where the jobs are and strangers raise our children or we go without. but there was a time when this book made an impact on my life. when i was younger and hadn't paid as much taxes as i have now. it is a nice concept if families lived in close proximity. kinda like an everybody loves raymond type of set-up or something similar.”

  “Say and believe what you will about Ms Clinton's political views, but her work with children around the world cannot be critiqued. Here, in "It Takes a Village", she explains the process that is required if we are to expect further generations to exist in a world better than the one in which we currently reside.
  Strongly featured is the role that each one of us can play in the growth and improvement of the next generation. A great read for those who work with children, have offspring, or might casually come into contact with young people.”

It is a must read for anyone who treasures a child's well-being, history, culture, customs and or local tradition. I Highly recommend the book. The story takes readers deep into the heart of the family,community or society that reveal universal truths about good and evil, right and wrong and sometimes the subtle lines that distinguish them. The story also illustrated that the problem is not fundamentally that of the improper child so much as it is that of the improper home. ”
