“What a brutal review of the hospital-based maternity system in America! This book made me so happy that I am planning to use a birthing center for my first baby. It was well-researched with copious notes. I read somewhere that it was "unbiased" but really, it's not. I'll admit it. But I feel like it accurately portrays some of the atrocities that happens in the USA. ”

As a midwife, doula and childbirth educator, I have read a LOT of books about birth. This is one of the best. I highly recommend it for birth professionals, those interested in human rights, and anyone who is having a baby, has had a baby, may ever have a baby, or loves someone who is having a baby! Just read it!”

“Exceptional and timely. A fascinating read on many problems with maternity care in the US. So many people are just blindly following the status quo - I think if more people knew, things would change much faster.”

“An eye-opening look at modern pregnancy and childbirth and how it evolved. It is a must read for any pregnant woman and I recommend it to all the women I know who have had or are planning on having children.”

“Women in America are completely duped into thinking they have great Maternity Care. This book should be read by anyone who is expecting or even plans to have children some day. Their partners could benefit from reading it as well.”
