I have mixed emotions about Hardy's novels. This one, however, I thoroughly enjoyed. In my opinion (which is not highly sought after) this is hardy's best.

I was young when I read this on a friend's recommendation but struggled through and ended up loving it. Mr. Hardy does have long sentences but it is a heart tugging tale and stays with you.

Forced to read this in school. It was an extremely dry read, but might attempt it again.
