This is what I call a WHIZZ-BANG from Lawhead. It is part of his King Arthur/ Pendragon series, but this one is more stand-alone than the others. Having read Tolkein and C S Lewis, it think Lawhead artfully combines the former's portrayal of evil, and the latter's portrayal of good. It took me to the heights of imagination, desperation, and knife-edge adventure. The themes of betrayal against the kingdom, and the loyalty to overcome it, are also pertinent. Didn’t Like It

Last in the series and I really struggled with this one. Not sure why it was written as it covered a lot of similar ground to book 4. All the new stuff just wasn't as interesting. Shame because I really enjoyed the rest of the series.
