“The cover design or the book title should lead a reader to the summary of a novel. Both the title and cover design of E.W. Foster debut novel led my eyes to the back cover where the summary lies.
The Game Plays You is a motivational and inspirational straight talk novel of one woman’s journey of a young woman’s traumatic relationships rooted from childhood through parts of her adult life. It was written so that women can see the woman in the mirror and know that she is worth being TRULY happy and why defining happiness does not lie within an intimate relationship.
The characters: The author and you, the reader. The story line: Progression. The drama: every failed relationship you have ever encountered and the finale’ is learning to use those failed relationships and past mistakes in our lives as a means to empower and self –improve ourselves.
Book Aesthetics – Love it!! The book cover definite speaks volume. It’s a story within itself. The playing field is a board game, the strategic game of Chess represents Life, and the playing markers are women, of all nationalities. Definitely a profound message!
From the beginning readers might get the impression that the author does not take into consideration that some decisions she made might have been a result of negative occurrence’s that happened in her childhood. The author understands that and she shares with readers how she overcame it ALL from childhood trauma to failed intimate relationships. It’s a simple antidote however some things are easier said than done so the author aims you with chapters such as: Conquering my low self-esteem, And the truth shall set you free, The final rinse on re-cycled cycles and Ending the game; the reader will understand that one must be willing to acknowledge something’s in a way of being honest with one self and be determine to make changes in their life in order to get off the board game.
The author is candid as she speaks about women and our outlook on intimate relationships. Here is where the game is being played and most women become markers on the game board. We as women must understand that life is not a game. We can’t continue to ignorantly make choices that degrade us or drive us to a point of no return. As the author says: ‘We women play deadly games with our lives and it’s not until it’s too late that we see that the game has played us.”
This is a short, easy, understandable novel. Every woman that reads this book will receive a positive profound message personally or gain a better understanding about the enjoyment of truly being happy within oneself. Reading rating of 3.8
