“Fun summer audiobook about an only child spending the summer with a grandmother he does not know. She runs an unusual inn that houses aliens ("tourists") from other planets on holiday on the planet earth. Narrator Joshua Swanson does a great job with this funny story.”Joy A wrote this review Monday, August 5, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Cute story about a boy named David that has to go spend the summer with his Grandmother in Washington. David spends the summer in an inn that his grandmother owns. It appears to be an ordinary inn, but the adventure begins when he starts to meet the guest.

“Aliens on Vacation is a science fiction novel for younger readers written by Clete Barrett Smith. As I wandered the library looking for a quick science fiction read, this title caught my eye. I have always loved humorous science fiction books, and this one seemed to be just what I was looking for. Any young kindergarten aged boy I have ever taught has loved anything about aliens, and the mysteries that revolve around them. This book puts a good twist on aliens, and gives them very human-like qualities. This book is about a boy named Scrub who gets sent to live with his grandma, who happens to run a bed and breakfast type of Inn. Her inn is not a typical inn, she houses aliens who are looking to have a nice, relaxing vacation. Some people are suspicious about Grandma’s Inn, and begin to investigate. It is up to Scrub to help his grandma, and the aliens, safe and secret, which proves to be a bigger job than expected.

“What would you do if you went to visit your grandma and found out that she needed your help running a bed and breakfast? What if that bed and breakfast catered to every being in the universe? Scrub finds himself in that predicament in this hilarious science fiction book. If you are looking for a funny book about aliens, this is it!”Ms. Zabonick wrote this review Tuesday, July 30, 2013. “A fun middle grades read! Scrub spends his summer vacation at his grandmother's bed and breakfast. But this isn't just any bed and breakfast, it's a tourist destination for aliens from around the universe looking to experience a primitive planet. Scrub spends his time helping the aliens get disguises as humans and fending off the suspicions of the town sherriff.
Aliens on Vacation was a fun, entertaining read most appropriate for readers in grades 4-7. It would make a great introduction to science fiction since it is written in the style of typical middle grades realistic fiction.”

“A bed and breakfast for visiting aliens? Not your ordinary vacation...that's for sure! Neither is this book, which is a good thing. Try it for a quick and amusing read!”Ms. Italiano wrote this review Monday, January 14, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“A little too long, the romance in this sci-fi fantasy yarn may lose readers along the way. ”Carter K wrote this review Wednesday, November 14, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
