“Her historical detail is amazing on subjects as diverse as dyeing cloth, the politics of the pope, shipping and commerce, etc.
The threads of the story line, from the 1st book through the 8th, are impeccably complex - almost too much so at times for me! But very dynamic and thoroughly enjoyable to read.”
“Hero Nicholas has a new business quest but is waylaid by the politics of Cyprus where he becomes friendly with King James of Lusignan - "Zacco", and marries a courtesan called Primaflora. But also his bitter ex Katelina turns up. At the same time there is fighting in Cyprus and Nicholas and yet-again-pregnant Katelina are trapped.
More hassles with Nicholas's Scottish relatives. More problems re Katelina. Primaflora angry. Zacco imperious. Turks causing trouble. Politics, sugar and camels, and cats! One of the best of the House of Niccolo series, especially if you have like me visited Cyprus and love it.”
