Pursuit tells the story of the relationship of Aryn Rayburn and her husband Ryan, specifically their commitment to one another. The couple has separated in their marriage and it's during that time that Aryn is abducted by a group of mercenaries determined to uncover a rumored lost treasure that once belonged to Nathaniel Bishop,
foundof Bishop's Island. Aryn is an historian and an expert in all matters regarding the history and legends of the island. What's more, she is a descendant of one of the men who overthrew Bishop. Ryan, on the other hand, is trying to reconcile feelings of guilt and regret in his treatment of his wife during their marriage. He desperately loves her and wants to win her back and when he learns she has gone missing, he sets out to rescue her. This effort relies heavily upon clues Aryn has left for him to find and interpret. Of course, every detail uncovers not only secrets about the island but secrets about the Rayburn family as well. As the story evolves, we realize that Aryn is protecting Ryan just as much as Ryan is trying to protect Aryn.
