“This is the second book in the Daughters of the Moon series, and Serena is the narrator of this book.

Her talent is the ability to read minds, where her best friend Jimena gets premonitions of the future. Their mentor Maggie has helped them hone, or understand their skills. Serena is a bit of a rebel, and doesn't always follow the rules, and she is in danger as Stanton, the sexy leader of Atrox's Followers, is after her to subvert her powers towards evil to bring the Daughters of Moon down.
Serena has a tough time in this one, as her friend Jimena does get a premonition about Serena that has her friends not trusting her. I like her surfer brother Collin, though he has no clue that his sister is so different. Her powers are strongest when the moon is fullest, and the Followers powers are strongest at the dark of the moon. They have the ability to get into your mind and make you want to join them.
Serena meets a new boy at school that she likes, and he is from another country. Since his thoughts are in another language, she might actually be able to finally have a normal relationship... But there's a bit of conflict where Stanton is trying to warn her away from this guy. Serena gets some conflicting signals, and she doesn't know who to trust, and it's hard to confide in friends who don't seem to trust you.
I really felt for Serena, but I didn't feel as connected to the story and characters as I was the first novel. “I started out with not a lot of expectation. I must say, the first seem a little too cheesy for my taste, but the second one has prevailed much. :) I think that it was waaaay better than the first and now I'll actually be semi-eager to read the next. Hahah :)”
