action/adventure, mature content; nicely misleading book. Events are part of Reacher's MP career.

Another great Jack Reacher yarn. This one goes back to when he was in the army. Good historical context to the character.

This book fills in Reacher's history. It tells the story of Carter's Crossing, Mississippi - the incident which separated Reacher from the MP's. He is sent to be undercover for an investigation involving the serial murders of 3 local women with a highly connected soldier as a suspect.

Pretty standard thriller novel. Riveting, yet you can safely speed read without missing much. Didn't need 500+ pages to be sure.

WOW. This is my new favorite author! I've heard about Jack Reacher, the main character, and know there are many books before this one. I think this is #17. I guess I chose the best one to start with because it tells the history of how it all began. Now I want to read all of the other books. In order.. UH OH. I like the way the author writes. Jack takes you along on his adventure. Ending was great. Didn't see that coming.

The Affair by Lee Child has a strong, likeable main character in Jack Reacher, a military cop who is told to go undercover to investigate a murder of a young woman. Once he gets to town, he befriends the local sheriff and together they try to solve the crime.

I really enjoyed this book because Reacher is so awesome and it has a good ending!

The Affair is the beginning of the Reacher series; it explains how he became the drifter he is and introduces some of the people in his life that have popped up in various other Reacher novels. In the Affair, Reacher is sent to Mississippi to be a silent detective on the murder of 3 women while his counterpart MP is sent to the base to actually interview the men. Reacher knows he's being set up, but can't help but follow the clues because it's not in his nature to give up. What he uncovers is quite a spin of political crap as one person after another is more concerned with covering their ass instead of justice for the dead women. An interesting look into how Reacher becomes who he is and there's a a short story of Reacher at 13 which is quite fun to read.
