“This book surprised the heck out of me. After a chapter or so, I thought it was stupid and wasn't going to finish it but I went back and read some of the reviews and decided to give it a little bit more time. I'm so glad I did!
This reminds me a bit of "Big Brother" from Orwell's book 1984. The world is controlled by the Sixers and the only thing the underprivileged can enjoy is living in the virtual world of the Oasis hoping to cash in on the big prize at the end.
The 80's references are so much fun for someone that grew up in that era. If you are too young, I'm not sure if it would be as enjoyable, but you never know. Nostalgia over the simpler times is fun when the world we currently live in is nothing but electronics and non-personal interaction. ”
