  • Schuyler Van Alen: The main character in the series. Also known as the Dimidium Cognatus (half-human, half-vampire), the first and only one. She's the daughter of Allegra Van Alen and Stephen Chase. She recently became the bondmate of Jack Force (Abbadon). Schuyler has been charged with protecting the Gate of Promise by her mother and grandparents.
  • Jack Force: Also known as Abbadon, Angel of Destruction, Twin Angel of the Apocalypse. Schuyler's bondmate, twin of Mimi.
  • Mimi Force: Current Regent of the New York Coven. Also known as Azrael, the Angel of Death, Twin Angel of the Apocalypse. Promised to her twin, Jack, who broke their bond for Schuyler. In love with Kingsley Martin, who is trapped in hell, and focused on revenge against Jack and Schuyler.
  • Kingsley Martin: A reformed silver blood and venator and love interest in Mimi, trapped in hell.
  • Oliver Hazard-Perry: A conduit. Schuyler's former familiar and conduit and now Mimi's present conduit. Oliver is broken hearted when the love of his life, Schuyler, bonds with Jack Force and so takes a trip to hell with Mimi. Ollie is human.
  • Allegra Van Alen: Also known as Gabrielle, the Uncorrupted, the Virtuous. Broke her bond with Charles Van Alen to go with Stephen Bendix Chase, her familiar and Schuyler's dad. Recovered from her coma, whereabouts unknown. Mother of Bliss Lewellyn and Schuyler. Daughter of Cordelia and Lawrence Van Alen.
  • Charles Force: Also known as Michael, Pure of Heart, Archangel of Light. After breaking the bond with Allegra Van Alen, he changed his name from Van Alen to Force, and bonded to Trinity Burden in this cycle. Regis of the New York coven, Charles disappears taking a secret he has been keeping from Allegra for centuries. His secret is linked to Lucifer's secret plan. Is the father of Mimi and Jack in this cycle.
  • Dehua Chen: From a coven based in Shanghai. Also known as Xi Wangmu, Angel of Immortality, was presented at the Four Hundred Ball along with her twin, Deming Chen. Has the ability to see through people's auras even without the glom. A Chinese Venator working with the Lennox twins, searching and destroying Nephilims.
  • Deming Chen: A Chinese Venator, also known as Kuan Yin, Angel of Mercy. She's highly sensitive to emotion and mood. Famous for her talent at reading a person's guanghuan or, in the Sacred Language, affectus, the color representation of one's interior barometer that was undetectable to the eye. A Venator, working with the Lennox twins, searching and destroying Nephilims. Her twin sister, Duhua is also a venator. She is a wife to one of the lennox twins.
  • Sam Lennox: Also known as Rujiel, one of the Angels of the West Wind. Good soldier. A Venator, working with the Chen twins, searching and destroying Nephilim. Brother of Ted, he and his brother distrust Schuyler and Jack.
  • Ted Lennox: Also known as Ruhuel, one of the Angels of the West Wind. Good soldier. A Venator,working with the Chen twins, searching and destroying Nephilim. Ted's twin brother is also a Venator. He and his brother distrust Schuyler and Jack.
  • Lucifer: The Morning Star, fallen angel and ruler of the underworld. In league with the Nephilim and Silver Bloods planning to destroy the vampire covens. Has a secret plan to return himself to his former glory.
  • Helda: Queen of the underworld. Makes a deal with Mimi to trade a soul for the soul of Kinglsey Martin from her service as the consigliere of the seventh circle of Hell.
  • Baal: Demon from Hell, close associate of Lucifer.
  • Malakai: Also known as the Steward, in human form was Forsyth Llewellyn. Strongest and most powerful of the Croatan and Lucifer's closest ally. This cycles Father of Bliss.
  • Mahrus Abdel Massih: Presents himself to the Lennox's, the Chen's and Schulyer and Jack as a Venator from Jordan and brother of Catherine of Sienna.
  • Catherine of Sienna: Keeper of the Gate of Promise and former leader of the Petruvian monks.
  • Cordelia Van Alen: Mother of Charles and Allegra, grandmother of Schuyler. She raised Schuyler after Schuyler's mother went into a coma.
  • Lawrence Van Alen: Father of Charles and Allegra, beloved grandfather of Schuyler. Keeper of ancient secrets passed onto Schuyler. Was killed by Lucifer.
  • Decca Chase: Stephen Bendix Chase's mother and well known San Francisco socialite.
