• Luke Findley: Doctor in present day town of St. Andrew, his parents are recently deceased. His wife left him for her high school sweetheart and took his kids with her.
• Sophia Jacobs: One of Jonathan's lovers
• Donatello: aka Dona, one of Adair's companions
• Alejandro: one of Adair's companions
• Nevin: Lanore's brother; he hates Jonathan.
• Lanore McIlvrae: A girl (woman) who tells the story of her life to Luke, the doctor who helped her escape from the St. Andrews hospital
• Marguerite: the physicist's housekeeper who was deaf and dumb
• Magdalena: town whore
• Jonathan St. Andrew: Lanny's only love that lasts past death
• Peter: anesthesiologist at hospital where Luke works
