“I have to hand it to Susan Mallery. By inventing the small California town of Fool's Gold she has created a gold mine for herself. Fool's Gold is a place where the women outnumber the men for some unknown reason. This gives Mallery plenty of opportunity to write about romances set in an interesting, caring community. There are ten novels so far and at least three more already planned. I like the links created by having the characters interact across stories.
I started this series with a short story and this is my second novel. I enjoyed the humor and even though I am not reading them in order, I am getting to know the community of Fool's Gold I plan to read more of these romances as I run across them.
I want to thank Mallery and her publisher for making her books available to public libraries as ebooks through OverDrive. I was able to download this one evening when I couldn't find anything in my house that I wanted to read. The convenience and the fact it is free to library patrons is wonderful.
If you like humorous contemporary romances that are set in a small community, you should try Mallery. The stories are fun and funny.”

It was adorable. There was nothing too angsty about it. It was light and flirty and had some fun moments. The characters were realistic. The ending was a little predictable, but hey, it did a good job getting there. There were enough moments in the book to keep me guessing which was unexpected but nice.
The only things I think that took away from the story was some of the repetition. The repetition was really repetitive. The repetitiveness was a little distracting. See? Granted, it was NOT this bad in the story. But there were times I could have sworn that I had read that sentence before. This was mostly a problem when talking about feelings, which in turn wasn’t a big part of the story until the end when things were coming to climax and then being resolved.
I actually really look forward to the rest in the series. I don’t think I will pre-order them or anxiously await them or anything. But when I see they are available I will seriously consider reading them. ”

“Her town’s lack of men may make headlines, but it isn’t news to Dakota Hendrix. The beautiful blonde has bigger problems to deal with, such as overseeing the romance reality competition filming in Fool’s Gold. Screening eligible bachelors is a difficult enough task, but Dakota hits an unexpected...”Grace H wrote this review Thursday, October 6, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
