Jack Brenin's life changes the moment he finds a golden acorn lying on the grass. He gets caught up in an extraordinary magical adventure and enters a world he only believed existed in legend. He's sure he's been mistaken for someone else. He's neither brave nor strong so how could he be "The One" an ancient prophecy speaks about? He's no idea why he's expected to help, unsure if he wants to, or even if he can.
The Golden Acorn is the first book of a five book series. Book Two, Galsruhen Hill, starts where book one ends. This is followed by book three, Silver Hill, book four, The Lost Treasure of Annwn, and will end with book five, The Oak Lord.

The book is set in Shropshire, a rural county in England and has maps running through the series. Each book shows more of the county as Jack's adventure progresses. Glasruhen is a fictional name of a real location and its meaning is 'ancient green hill'. The Raven's Bowl is a real location on top of The Wrekin (Glasruhen) and has a local legend associated with it. The locations used in the book were chosen to incorporate a local myth or legend into the story or are of historical importance.
  • Glasruhen: A fictional name for The Wrekin, an ancient hill in Shropshire on top of which are the ruins of an old hillfort. The name Glasruhen means... ancient green hill.
  • Viroconium: Viroconium was the fourth largest Roman city in Roman Britain it is now known as Wroxeter and only a small part of the once vast city remains exposed. In the book it is called Salchester, which is a composite name for Salop (old county name for Shropshire) and Chester (meaning Roman fort).
