“I'm in the process of forming a protest group, "Occupy Ali Smith's Keyboard", in an effort to lead people away from this insufferable story. A truly entertaining premise (a dinner party guest takes refuge in the hostess' spare room) is touched on in perhaps 5% of the story, of which that 5% was wonderfully entertaining. The dinner party scene itself, hysterical. The guest himself spawns worldwide interest from the media, via youtube etc-ingenious! Unfortunately, the 95% of the rest of this novel is an exercise in an intellectual universe that I'm obviously not smart enough to be part of, since I haven't the foggiest as to what it had to do with a truly clever concept. Skip it, and RUN, far, far away.”
