Howl for a Highlander is a fast paced, sexy, exciting and romantic read. This is my first time reading to be Terry Spear's work and it was absolutely amazing. The story was set in the Grand Cayman Islands which I know is a beautiful place based descriptions that I have read but the was Ms. Spear described I felt I was actually apart of the story.

The characters were superb. My favourite character is Shelly. I loved her independence, determination and her sense of loyalty.

Shelly was visiting the Grand Cayman Islands in order to conduct some research. She never expected to catch the attention of not one but two werewolves. One was a criminal who swindled persons out of their hard earned cash and the other who was hell bent on taking down this criminal.

Duncan MacNeill was on a mission to capture the wolf who had stolen his clan's money. He never expected to be distracted by a lone she-wolf whom he felt was in need of his protection.

The chemistry between Shelly and Duncan was sizzling. I loved the way the author developed the relationship between these two. It was quite realistic. It was easy for me to relate to both characters. I loved Duncan's selflessness and his need to protect those he felt needed it.

Howl for a Highlander is the tenth book in the Heart of the Wolf series which can be read as a stand alone. After reading this book I am compelled to read the other book in the series.

The story was past paced, filled with action and mystery. I absolutely could not put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent reading this story. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and it held my interest until the very end.

I will definitely be adding Terry Spear to my list of favourite authors.

Whenever you start a book by Terry Spear you never have to worry if you will enjoy it or not. The only thing you have to worry about is whether or not you have enough uninterrupted time to read her wonderful story straight through. You see I didn’t think about that when I started reading ‘A Howl for a Highlander’. I ended up staying up until 3:00 in the morning lost in this fascinating and romantic world of wolf shifters. Was it worth being tired and dragged out the next day? YES!

Duncan MacNeill is sent by his clan to an island paradise in order to recover the millions that was stolen from them While at the airport he smells an unaccompanied female shifter. Being the gentleman he is he offers to help her get to where she is staying. Duncan can’t afford to be distracted from his mission but Shelley is so… interesting…

Shelley knows she cannot get in a relationship with a male shifter because that only leads to being permanently mated. When she attracts the eye of the man who not only stole the MacNeill money but the grant money from her college as well, things become dangerous in this beautiful paradise getaway.

While this book could totally be read as a standalone book I have to recommend that you read the rest of the series as well. While you are at it go ahead and read any book you can find that Ms. Spear has written. Her books are the perfect little getaways and you will be so happy you did!

    My Thoughts

Let me start off by saying that this is my first book by Terry Spears and she didn't disappoint me and won't be the last. I love her style of writing. This plot was filled with great characters and had a smooth flowing plot with bits of intrigue and danger and a very endearing couple who found romance and love and one's mate among the danger and intrigue going on around them. The book was a page turner from the very first page couldn't wait to see what happened next.

I have to say that Duncan and Shelley were very likable characters and easy to relate to.Duncan won my heart from the very beginning of the story with his good deed straight off the bat and I knew then that I was going to fall in love with him ! Ah....

Duncan is on a mission to go a find the man who has stolen there fortune which brings him to the Caribbean where the thief is hiding out in his compound.Without the funds return the clan will fall to ruin. It's up to Duncan to get the funds back and restored to his Laird who is also his brother before its to late. Here on the island he meets Shelley Campbell botanist who is on the island to study the old growth forests who turns out to be a mesmerizing little werewolf who he meets at the airport.

Who would of thought running into another of your kind on a Caribbean Island know less !Duncan's attraction to the sexy wolf is not one he needs to have when he is on a mission ! But, fate has other ideas...when the one that Duncan is stalking takes and interest in his pretty little werewolf he now has a new complication he did not need. Now, he is thinking there will have to be a new plan as her safety is most important.

Although this couple has gone to the island for different reasons and neither on vacation like most people would be they both turn to one another when both are in need of help. The attraction between this couple is explosive from the onset.Shelley and Duncan made the cutest couple even though Duncan is looking at there situation as a fling and no more.

Shelley surprised me. I found her to be witty and funny and tough as nails when she needed to be.Love -able and loyal and fierce when those threaten who and what she cares about.Who would have thought that the little botanist was a warrior at heart !And Duncan a fierce Highlander with a loving and caring side to him.Protective and loyal and dangerously sexy with and aura that says danger....

Just loved this story all around and if I could give it more than five stars I would. This story contained all the things I love shape-shifters wolves and great plot that had you so engrossed because it was constantly changing bringing more danger at every turn wondering what next ? Loved the developing romance between this couple. There were tons of sexy encounters for you to read about among and some really hot sex scenes that would have anyone salivating! And of course a few tears and laughter. But, most of all Duncan ,who touched my heart with his big Highlander heart both fierce and protective of not only when it came to Shelley but, that of the way he spoke of his Laird and clan and family had your heart melting. I was In love right from the very beginning.I was glad to be on Duncan's adventure with him were danger lurked at every turn taking you for one heck of a ride. And I loved the setting of this book.It had me intrigued that you would put a brawny highlander smack dab in the middle of a Caribbean ! The descriptions of the tropical island and that of Duncan's home had you feeling that you were right there with them. And most of all you got to love it when a mere slip of she-wolf brings a fierce hunky highlander to his knees. That's Priceless ! A excellent read just Loved it.

Recommended read to all ! After reading this story and just had to go an order the rest of Terry Spears books and did just that !The finished book went into my keeper pile and has earned a new place among all my other favorite books. You know that you have written a great book when the reader can't wait to read the book all over again after just finishing it!.

Terry Spear is one of the main reasons why I fell in love with the paranormal romance genre back in 2009 and her latest novel makes me realize how much I need a vacation of my own with my own Highlander. =)

Duncan MacNeill is off to Grand Cayman Island to find the thief who stole the clan's fortune. His brother Laird Ian MacNeill knows he can find the thief, get back their money, and put the thief to justice. Unfortunately, Duncan never expected to run into a lone female wolf who is about to capture his heart from the moment he spots her at the airport.
Shelley Campbell is at the Grand Cayman Island to study the forests and hopefully make a discovery. The moment she spots Duncan though, she knows she's going to have a hard time getting anything done. She has her reasons for not hooking up with her own kind, especially one that is a Highlander, but Duncan is going to be too irresistible for her.
Shelley and Duncan will join forces to find the thief since the thief is also wanted for other reasons.
Both Shelley and Duncan will have to go through fighting their urge of being together, as well keeping each other safe from dangers ahead.

"A Howl for a Highlander" actually continues the story of the MacNeill family and what I learned in the "Heart of the Highland Wolf" book. (which by the way...I am still in love with Ian MacNeill...*sigh*)
Duncan is definitely stubborn, but so is Shelley in this book. I actually liked Shelley more than Duncan. She did not want to sit back, she wanted to help Duncan...and of course Duncan threw in issues with why he did not want her help. Stubborn Male!!
The sexual tension between them both and also the sex scenes...were off the charts. Let's just say they did a lot in the ocean together. =)
I have always been fascinated on Terry Spear's writing style and how she keeps up with all the books she writes and I adored her even more when she brought in Ian MacNeill, as well as previous characters from the previous book. Did I already admit that I love Ian? =)
The only downfall was I did not click with Duncan as much as I thought I would. Shelley stole the show in this book for me. Maybe it was because Duncan was not Ian. Maybe Cearnach MacNeill will steal my heart in his book. I know he kind of did when he showed up in this book.
I look forward to the next novel in the Heart of the Wolf Series. I just cannot get enough of these books. They truly are addicting and worth reading over and over again.
Terry Spear will always be a FAVE Author of mine and I do not care what my husband says...I prefer to buy the paperback version of this series instead of the ebook version. I must drool over the covers and touch the books personally. He can just deal with my books taking over the house. =)
If you enjoy the paranormal romance genre and wolves...you will love this book as well as the others.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was fast pace romance with some suspense. Definitely is a good stand-alone book. I have not read the other books in the series so I have a lot of catching up to do. The only thing that really bothered me about this book is the ending. The ending was not what I was expecting. It was way too easy of an ending. ***Spoiler*** What bad guy just gives up and gives everything to the good guys then he ups and kills himself. ***End of Spoiler*** Not to many. I think it could have ended so many different ways instead of that ending. Overall Howl for a Highlander is a good book and a series that I will be catching up on

There is just 'something' about a Highlander, rough, tough, hot-add being a wolf shifter, maybe throw in a kilt, romantic tension with a nefarious plot and once again, I am glued to another Terry Spears book!

Duncan MacNeill has set out to regain his family's fortune, stolen by Salisbury Silverman, an American gray wolf, a financial fraud genius with world-wide warrants out for his arrest. Sal is hiding out in the Cayman Islands and that's where Duncan has gone.

At the airport Duncan is distracted by the scent of a female werewolf. Not. What. He. Needed. When he finds her, she is beautiful, sexy and not too happy about him ogling her. Oops.

Shelley Campbell is a red werewolf and botanist on a trip to study plant life. She is independent, has a chip on her shoulder and is not intimidated by Duncan, which only peaks his interest MORE!

Shelley gets caught up in the drama between Sal and Duncan. Not only has she caught Duncan's eye, but Sal is drawn to her, also. Duncan must find a way to keep Shelley safe and get his family's money back.

Terry Spear has a way with storytelling! There is romance, action, and plots that thoroughly entertain! A Great just for fun read!

Duncan MacNeill has been sent to paradise to collect his families fortune stolen by Silverman. Duncan is a highland wolf and part of the MacNeill Clan. Everything is dependent on his success including the MacNeill’s castle home. He can’t afford to be distracted in any way.

Shelley Campbell is a botanist and a wolf shifter. She is heading to the Grand Cayman Islands to study the dry forest. When she arrives she discovers that her grant has been embezzled by a Mr. Silverman and she is without funds to pay for her trip. Lucky for her, Duncan’s reservations got messed up. Now Duncan needs a place to stay and she needs a room mate to pay 1/2.

Shelley never expected to gain the attention of not 1 but 2 wolves. Caught in the mist of nefarious plans, Shelley must lean on Duncan to survive. Duncan will have to choose between focusing on Shelley safety or saving his clan from finical ruin. This harden warrior might just find out that he has someone new to watch his back.

I love the highland wolves! This was fabulously written story, extremely descriptive, you feel like you are right there on The Grand Cayman Island with the characters. The romantic chemistry is hot. And to top it off Howl for A Highlander has a stimulating plot with lots of action and adventure. Oh Yeah, Terry Spears even gets in the kilts and sword play :D. Wonderful addition to the Heart of the Wolf Series, you won’t want to miss out on this engaging story.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
    *eARC received from NetGalley

Terry Spear has a very good thing going with her HEART OF THE WOLF series and my favorites so far have had to do with those sexy highland wolves...

This one had a cool concept. I liked the set up, I loved the way that she overlapped the stories to create cohesion between the characters, and there were just enough surprises.

Shelley is a professor of botany and on a research trip to the Cayman Islands. She locks eyes with a sexy Scottish wolf in the airport and there's instant chemistry.

Duncan is younger brother to the Laird of MacNeil castle. He's in Grand Cayman trying to track down a con artist wolf that has utterly and completely ripped of his pack and family, not to mention countless others. Once he spies the sexy redhead in the airport he has trouble thinking of much else.

Fate and circumstances push the two together and they end up as roomates and partners in trying to take down the sleezy, slimy con man.

While neither planed for it, they can't escape their attraction and one thing leads to another; their mission, families, and others' expectations be damned.

A Howl for the Highlander was another super sexy 4 Skull highland wolf read from Terry Spear and I enjoyed it a lot

There was something about it that wouldn't allow me to give it a higher rating though. I think it was the all-of-a-sudden abruptness to the culmination of Shelley and Duncan's relationship. It was going along great, plenty of sexual tension, lots of action, the story led well to their relationship progressing, etc, and then all of a sudden they were just 'together'. It was still good, but it reminded a lot me of how I feel when I read PNR Novellas; like they're just not long enough to hold the full story and feel like they're rushed. This wasn't on that level, but it was the same type of feeling. I might have been able to give this 5 skulls if it were a bit longer and drawn out just a tad more...
