When a tree falls on and ruins the Bob-White clubhouse, the Bob-Whites must earn the money to fix it. When the gamekeeper of the Wheeler game preserve quits, Trixie and Honey offer to do the job so they can earn the money to help fix the clubhouse. But when they find a dead animal in a trap, they realize that they must capture the poacher, though he might be dangerous.

  • Trixie Belden: She is a co-persident for the Bob-Whites of Glen. She lives on Crabapple Farm with her parents and 3 brothers. She loves solving mysteries and her best friends are Jim Frayne, Honey, Wheeler, and Di Lnych.
  • Brian Belden: He dreams of becoming a doctor and is Trixie's oldest brother. He's a Bob-White and he's friends with Jim, Honey, and Di, too.
  • Bobby Belden: He's Trixie's rambunctious little brother, but he's very cute.
  • Jim Frayne: He's was adopted by the Wheeler's and dreams of owning a school for orphan boys. He inherited half a million dollars and is a co-president of the Bob-Whites.
  • Regan: He's the Wheeler's groom and is very kind to all of the Bob-Whites.
  • Honey Wheeler: She's a Bob-White and lives in the Manor House. She's one of Trixie's best friends and Jim is her adopted brother.
  • Di Lynch: She's also a Bob-White and is great friends with Trixie. Her father's a millionare and has little brothers and sisters.
  • Mr. Maypenny: He becomes the Wheeler's gamekeeper at the end of the book. Trixie believes that he is illegally killing animals on the Wheeler game preserve.
  • Miss Trask: She's Honey's governess.
  • Mart Belden: He's another Bob-White and is Trixie's older brother. He loves teasing Trixie.
