J. Courtney Sullivan has a real way of making her characters instantly familiar to the reader, as though they're jumping into a story they've been reading already. I tore through this, totally falling in love with Alice and Maggie and Ann Marie (didn't much like Kathleen though) but...the ending felt abrupt. Still, it's a great read and I'm totally chomping at the bit for Sullivan's next novel.
