  • Exonerated: Often misinterpreted to mean "proven innocent," this word means a variety of things legally, including "the conviction was overturned for technical reasons, although the guy was guilty of the crime."
  • Anti-SLAPP Laws: SLAPP stands for Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation. The laws protect citizens from lawsuits when they engage in public-participation like testifying in court or speaking publicly about crime.
  • Restorative Justice: Another term for giving criminal perpetrators light sentences and miscellaneous varieties of support, on the grounds that punishing them and keeping them off the streets really changes nothing.
